The Friends of Mineral Hills Conservation Area is organizing a trail-building day July 30, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking area for the Mineral Hills area, located on Sylvester Road about a quarter mile north of its intersection with West Farms, Turkey Hill, Ryan and Sylvester roads.
Volunteers are needed to help build two connector trails which will link two established trail networks and allow for loop hiking within the conservation area.
The work involves removing branches and debris to create cleared trail corridors. Volunteers are asked to bring long-handled “loppers” and/or hand saws, if possible, as well as water, and to be prepared for mud and bugs.
