Northampton’s City Council is scheduled to vote August 19th whether to accept interest in several Hatfield parcels that could one day contain rail trail extensions from Northampton. The city would pay $12,000 for a half interest in four small parcels along the Connecticut River that can now only be accessed from Hatfield. Planning Director Wayne M. Feiden said the project is only a gleam in the eyes of city planners at present but could come to fruition sometime in the future.
The Council took their unanimous first reading on this acquisition earlier in July, and will take a second and final reading at their August 19th meeting.
As always, the Council offers citizens an open comment period before meetings to express opinions on pending issues.
